Employees and their families can choose from a range of medical insurance options, including a health savings account (HSA). We also offer affordable dental and vision insurance, along with prescription drug benefits. In addition, employees may choose to use flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to pay for certain health or childcare expenses tax-free.

Because we know the importance of mental health, we offer counseling resources for employees and their families. We also partner with Cariloop to support employees as they provide care for elder family members, young children or relatives with special or medical needs.

Our retirement plan, managed by Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS), is one of the best you'll find. Employees contribute 7% of their gross pay to their personal TMRS account, which the City of Allen matches 2:1. Employees are vested after five years of service, giving them access to both their personal investments and matching funds as a monthly payment upon retirement. Employees who want to save even more can access a Deferred Compensation 457 Plan.

We also offer protection against worst-case scenarios through short- and long-term disability coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance and workers compensation. Employees can also purchase life insurance for spouses/dependents.

New employees accrue 120 hours of vacation time and 120 hours of sick time per year, in addition to one 8-hour personal day. The City of Allen observes eight paid holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

We reward employees' commitment with increased vacation leave. At the 10-year mark, employees begin accruing an extra week (40 hours) of vacation per year.
