Driving Safety Course
Your charge may be dismissed by successfully completing a driving safety course or a motorcycle operator training course. The offense must involve a moving violation. You must make your request on or before your first appearance date or within 20 working days from the date of your citation. Only sign up for a class after you receive an order from the court granting your request.
Submit your request for Driving Safety Course:
To be eligible, you must:
- Have a valid Texas driver's license or permit that is NOT a commercial driver’s license (CDL)
- Have proof of vehicle insurance in your name or with you as a listed driver.
- Not have been cited for speeding at 25 mph or more over the posted speed limit.
- Not have been cited for speeding at a speed of 95 mph or more.
- Not have completed a driving safety course to dismiss a citation within one year preceding the date of the current citation.
- Not currently taking a driving safety course for another citation.
- Enter a plea of ‘Guilty’ or ‘No Contest’ to the offense.
- Pay the required court fees.
Submit your request for Driving Safety Course:
Online
- Download and fill out a Driving Safety Course Request Form.
- Open an online contact form and attach the following:
- Completed DSC Request
- A photo of your valid Texas Driver’s License
- A scanned copy or photo of your proof of vehicle insurance - The court will review your request for eligibility.
- If approved, you will receive a notice by text message with a payment link.
- Make the payment.
- You will receive a copy of the court order with the due date to submit your certificate of completion and Type 3-A certified Driving Record.
- If your request is denied, you will receive a notice of court date to appear.
By Mail
- Download, print and fill out a Driving Safety Course Request Form.
- Mail the completed form along with the following:
- Copy of valid Texas driver's license
- Copy of proof of insurance
- Check or money order for $144 (or $169 if in a school zone). Mailing address: Allen Municipal Court, 301 Century Parkway, Allen, TX 75013 - Upon approval, you will receive a copy of the court order with the due date to submit your certificate of completion and Type 3-A certified Driving Record.
In Person
- Appear at the Deputy Court Clerk’s window with the following:
- Valid Texas driver's license
- Proof of vehicle insurance
- Payment for the required fees ($144 or $169)
