1. SMART Irrigation Controller Rebates

If you’re considering a SMART irrigation controller, you may be eligible for a rebate!

How do I apply?

1. Review the rebate application for program guidelines.

Can I mail a printed application?

If you prefer to mail your application, please print and complete a SMART Irrigation Rebate Application. Be sure to enclose the following with your application:

1. Copy of original invoice or sales receipt showing date and place of sale, date and address of installation (if performed by vendor or contractor), itemized description of purchase and cost of items; and

Which SMART controllers qualify for the rebate?

Why do only six SMART controllers qualify for the rebate?

To qualify, a SMART Controller must meet all six qualifications listed below:

1. Connect to local weather station via Wi-Fi or have an onsite weather station.
2. Program each zone according to correct plant type, soil type, sprinkler nozzle type, sun/shade conditions and slope conditions.
3. Program only on watering days allowed per neighborhood schedule.
4. Give suggested run times for each zone that is adjustable.
5. Turn off the system in the event of a rain or freeze condition.
6. Water using the cycle-soak method.

How much can I save?

If your rebate application is approved, City of Allen will rebate $75 for the installation of a qualifying SMART controller. The cost may include hardware and installation costs incurred by a licensed irrigator.

Are SMART controllers exempt from watering restrictions?

SMART irrigation controllers do not exempt residents from City watering and time of day restrictions. View the watering schedule at CityofAllen.org/WateringDay.

2. Pressure-Reducing Valve (PRV) Rebates

Pressure-reducing valves (PRVs) save water by lowering your home’s water pressure. If you install one, you may qualify for a rebate!

How do I apply?

1. Review the rebate application for program guidelines.
2. Hire a licensed plumber who is registered in the city of Allen to perform your installation. Save an itemized invoice!
3. Complete the Pressure-Reducing Valve Application as soon as possible. Your rebate won’t be processed until all paperwork is received.

How much can I save?

If your rebate application is approved, the City of Allen will rebate $75 for the installation of a qualifying PRV. The cost may include hardware and installation costs incurred by a licensed plumber. Limit one pressure-reducing valve rebate for the lifetime of a residence.

What if I have a Pressure-Reducing Valve already installed?

The Residence must not already have a PRV installed.

Who can install a Pressure-Reducing Valve?

Any PRV must be installed by a licensed plumber that is registered in the City of Allen. A plumbing permit is required to install a PRV and an inspection of completed work will be performed by City of Allen building inspectors prior to a rebate being issued. Plumbing permits are issued at CityofAllen.org/Permit.

3. Rain and Freeze Sensor Rebates

Rain and freeze sensors override your irrigation controls to prevent sprinklers from turning on if it’s raining or below freezing. If you install one, you may qualify for a rebate!

How do I apply?

1. Review the rebate application for program guidelines.
2. Check to see if your irrigation system was installed more than 3 years ago.
3. Purchase and install the rain and freeze sensor. Save your sales receipt, itemized invoices and bar codes!
4. Complete the Rain and Freeze Sensor Rebate Application as soon as possible. Your rebate won’t be processed until all paperwork is received.

Can I mail a printed application?

If your rebate application is approved, the City of Allen will rebate up to $25 for the purchase and installation cost of a qualifying rain and freeze sensor. The cost may include hardware and installation costs incurred by a licensed plumber.

Is a permit required?

City of Allen does not require an irrigation permit to retrofit an irrigation system for a rain and freeze sensor.

4. Rain Barrel Rebates

A rain barrel is a handy way to store free rainwater from your roof to water your plants on a dry day. If you want to buy one, you may qualify for a rebate!

How do I apply?

2. Select, purchase and install a new rain barrel. Save your receipts and bar codes!
3. Complete the Rain Barrel Rebate Application as soon as possible. Your rebate won’t be processed until all paperwork is received.

How much can I save?

If your rebate application is approved, the City of Allen will rebate up to $25 each for up to two rain barrels.

5. Low-Flow Toilet Rebates

If you replace a high-volume toilet with one featuring a WaterSense label, you may qualify for a rebate! Learn more about WaterSense and find qualifying models

How do I apply?

2. Select, purchase and install a low-flow toilet. Save your receipts and bar codes!
3. Schedule disposal of your old toilet by calling 214.509.4551.
4. Complete the online Toilet Rebate Application as soon as possible. Your rebate won’t be processed until all paperwork is received.

How much can I save?

If your rebate application is approved, the City of Allen will rebate $50 for the installation of a low-flow toilet. The cost may include hardware and installation costs incurred by a licensed plumber. Limit three toilets for the lifetime of a residence.

What size toilet qualifies for this rebate?

Toilets must be 1.28 gallons or less. Proof must be submitted with application. (Look for the WaterSense label.)

How many toilets can I receive a rebate for?

What do I do with the old toilet?

Old toilets that are replaced must be disposed of by making an appointment for Community Services to collect them (214.509.4551).

6. Water-Efficient Washing Machine Rebates

A water-efficient washing machine can yield 35-55% water savings!  If you buy one, you may qualify for a rebate.

How do I apply?

1. Review the rebate application for program guidelines. To qualify, you must be replacing a low-efficiency washing machine or purchasing a washer for the first time.
2. Select, purchase and install a water-efficient washing machine. See a list of accepted products. Save your receipts and bar codes!
3. Complete the Washing Machine Rebate Application as soon as possible. Your rebate won’t be processed until all paperwork is received.

Can I mail a printed application?
